about

The only material here is a 2-second sample from a boogie song I like. I am choosing to keep that song a secret in case someone who could could have this thing removed is paying attention. If someone is really curious just hit me up and I'll tell you. Probably I've said too much already.

"Ooh" is the fourth installment of a lifelong dedication to a micro-genre I'm going to call "Ambient Soul." One day, I was driving around somewhere in Michigan listening to "I Want You" by Marvin Gaye, and I was struck by the beauty of the overall song structure. I wanted it to last forever, or at least longer than the song's 4:34 runtime. Ambient music is full of ultra lengthy songs that really implore the listener to reflect on the beauty of a simple song structure. Thus, the idea for "Ambient Soul" was born.

I can't say that this piece of music is something I spent months or years working on. In fact, "Ooh" only took about 10 hours to make. I spent most of that time listening back to the track, slightly tweaking reverb and delay parameters until it felt like the sound emanating from this MIDI sequence actually evolved over time.

I encourage everyone who happens to stumble upon this page to brew up your favorite warm beverage and put this on while doing any activity. Or lay down on the floor and stare at the ceiling for as long as you can before it gets boring. Or stare at the visual I made for it (youtu.be/E5el_VfN95c) for as long as you can before it gets boring. I hope it fills your space with a sense of focus and calm.

Much Love,

Gilad
